A reporter covering the VE day celebration in Paris meets and falls in love with a beautiful girl. Married shortly after the war, the couple lives on his meager wage he earns as a news-wire reporter while he works on his novel. After giving up on his job and living for a while on his oil well earnings, the couple grows apart until a tragic event brings the man out of his self-destructive behavior.
